Genealogical Resources at the Jefferson Public Library

The Jefferson Public Library has a variety of resources to assist in researching family history. Our materials consist mainly of microfilm and books.  There are newspaper clippings and business and family histories in the Pamphlet File. Links to some genealogy web sites are listed first.

Ancestry Library Edition

Ancestry® Library Edition delivers billions of records in census data, vital records, directories, photos, and more. Answers await everyone—whether professional or hobbyist, expert or novice, genealogist or historian—inside the more than 7,000 available databases. This database is only available in-house at the Jefferson Public Library on our public Internet computers.

The newspaper microfilm is indexed. The microfilm and index are located downstairs in the children’s department. The index covers birth, marriage, death, and divorce notices, as well as other articles about Jefferson County citizens that appeared in the paper.
